Jack and Eleanor Bendat donated funds to The University of Western Australia to assist and encourage meritorious Indigenous students from regional Western Australia to continue and complete their first undergraduate degree course.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible to apply for the scholarship, an applicant must:
Be a citizen or permanent resident of Australia;
Be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander;
Have completed the first 48 points towards their first undergraduate degree course;
Be from a rural or regional area of Western Australia;
Experiencing financial hardship;
Be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate degree course unless there are exceptional circumstances which preclude full-time enrolment.

Applications are called for by Coursework Scholarships and Prizes and must be submitted by the advertised closing date.

Selection criteria:
Academic achievement: determined by the applicants’ Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (‘ATAR’) or equivalent ATAR as determined by the University;
Financial hardship: may be demonstrated by an applicant being in receipt of a means-tested Commonwealth income support payment (such as Youth Allowance, Austudy, Abstudy, etc.) or by submitting a statement of financial hardship.

The scholarship may be held concurrently with any other scholarship or award, except other industry-funded scholarships, provided that this is permitted by the conditions of the concurrent scholarship or award.
