ANMC Indigenous Nurse/Midwife Scholarship

This scholarship, introduced in 2016, is made possible by generous donations to the Australian Nurses Memorial Centre. The ANMC recognises the contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nurses to the health and well-being of the community.

We are pleased to continue support of our Indigenous Nurse Scholarship for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nurses undertaking postgraduate nursing studies at an Australian university or other accredited higher education institution.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for this Scholarship, you must:

  • hold current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia;

  • identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person;

  • be a member of the Australian Nurses Memorial Centre;

  • be enrolled or proposed to enrol at a postgraduate level of study that relates to contemporary professional practice in nursing or midwifery;

  • undertake study in the applicable year;

  • complete all sections of the application form and;

  • demonstrate an ongoing commitment to professional practice through two or more of the following means:

    • Hold a membership of a professional nursing association or special-interest group;

    • Contribute to the ongoing development of the team in which you work;

    • Be actively involved in the innovation in professional practice;

    • Show recent involvement in research e.g. through conference presentation/s and;

    • Demonstrate a significant degree of community service.
