The Aboriginal Health Pathways Scholarships

The purpose of the Scholarship is to provide support for Aboriginal students to access and attain tertiary qualifications in health and human services or related disciplines, increase Aboriginal student awareness of the health sector employment opportunities and networks, to increase access to health services by Aboriginal communities, families and individuals through a skilled Aboriginal health workforce.
It is offered within the following Schools:
School of Health Sciences;
School of Medicine;
School of Nursing and Midwifery; or
School of Physiotherapy.
The Scholarship provides financial support to recipients which may be used to assist with general living and educational expenses.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for the Scholarship, applicants must: Be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person and state that he/she identifies as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person and is recognised by his/her community as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person; Be enrolled as a full-time student at The University of Notre Dame Australia, Fremantle or Broome in one of the above listed Schools; Be able to demonstrate satisfactory academic achievement throughout the year in which the Scholarship is awarded; Be able to demonstrate that their educational opportunities are limited due to adverse circumstances and that the award of the Scholarship would assist them to address these limitations.

Written applications setting out compliance with the Eligibility Requirements and addressing the Selection Criteria must be made on the application form available from the University website. Applications must be submitted to the Office of University Relations, Fremantle.

Further Information

The Scholarship is awarded to seven recipients per year who, in the opinion of the Selection Committee, best demonstrate through their application and supporting documentation: Academic merit; Adverse circumstances as set out in the eligibility criteria; Personal circumstances or background which, in the opinion of the Selection Committee, warrants special consideration; Personal determination to work in a health context. The Scholarship will be advertised on the University website in the year preceding the award of the Scholarship.
