In 2024, USQ will offer one John Ross Clancy Indigenous Student Bursary to support an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander student commencing their studies in a bachelor's degree.
The late John Ross Clancy was an advocate for Australian Indigenous affairs, and generously bequeathed funds to USQ to advance Australian Indigenous higher education. While John Ross Clancy had many achievements, both he and his wife, Lydia, were active in initiating the Black Women's Action group in the 1970s.

Professor Ross Spark (1954-2013) who was the Head of the School of Public Health, Tropical Medicine and Rehabilitation Sciences at James Cook University Cairns in 2011 until the time of his death in 2013. He is remembered for the passion and expertise he had in health promotion and Indigenous health;
Dr John Breinl (1918 – 2013), a well-known medical practitioner, former deputy mayor of Townsville and Captain in the Ambulance Unit of 11th Infantry Brigade.

Ear, nose and throat surgeon Bal Krishan has practised in Wagga Wagga for more than four decades. A supporter of higher education and healthcare in regional Australia, Dr Krishan made a substantial donation to the CSU Foundation Trust in 2008. This donation enabled the creation of this scholarship for Indigenous students enrolled full-time in a course on Wagga Wagga Campus.
