Lawrence R Tedesco was born in New York City and grew up in Catskill Mountains in upstate New York. He was educated in the State University of New York at Binghamton, Miami University and the University of Tasmania. Lawrence worked and travelled in the USA, Africa, Southeast Asia, China and Australia. He worked with remoted Aboriginal communities in health-related areas in Australia in the 19070s and was passionate about improving health outcomes for Australia's Indigenous peoples. This Scholarship honours Lawrence and his life of giving through the establishment of a perpetual fund to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education at UQ.
